More than 280 golfers gathered at the Coto De Caza Golf & Racquet Club on Monday, April 23, to support St. Joseph Hospital of Orange for their 27th Annual Golf Tournament, which raised nearly $300,000 for the hospital. Former Los Angeles Rams' defensive end and NFL Hall of Famer Deacon Jones, whose life was touched by the talented physicians and nurses at St. Joseph Hospital through multiple life-saving procedures, also spoke at the tournament to show his support of the hospital. Tournament proceeds will benefit St. Joseph Hospital Women's Services. The hospital is currently initiating development of the region's newest, comprehensive mother and baby unit that will include 60 new, private rooms and a state-of-the-art newborn transitional care unit. In addition, the hospital will soon open its Center for Breast Imaging and Diagnosis, which will provide a full continuum of sophisticated breast services to patients in a comforting setting.

"St. Joseph Hospital thanks all of the golfers who helped us raise funds for our Women's Services Initiative at St. Joseph Hospital that will contribute to the development of our new mother and baby unit, as well as to the opening of our Center for Breast Imaging and Diagnosis," said Anita York, MD, obstetrics and gynecologist at St. Joseph Hospital and chair of the St. Joseph Hospital Golf Tournament. "These two new programs will allow us to continue to fulfill our mission of improving the health and quality of life of the people in our community by providing the most premium women's services available in Orange County. Our highly skilled physicians and nursing staff are excited to offer these new programs, which were made possible through these generous donations."

Founded in 1929, St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, California, is a nationally recognized, 525-bed, not-for-profit Catholic hospital dedicated to extending the healing ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission and designated as a Magnet hospital for nursing excellence, St. Joseph Hospital's reputation for clinical excellence and compassionate, family-centered care draws patients from all over the United States. Equally important is St. Joseph Hospital's dedication to caring for the medically underserved through health education programs, a free-standing medical and dental clinic, and mobile health vans. St. Joseph Hospital depends on philanthropic support from the community to carry out its mission. These efforts are coordinated through the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation.
