St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare Medical Groups Recognized as Top Performers

Orange, Calif., Oct. 9, 2012 – St. Joseph Heritage Medical Group and St. Jude Heritage Medical Group were recently recognized by the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) as being "top performers" in Southern California. Out of nearly 200 physician organizations throughout California, only 47 achieved this designation by meeting the highest overall benchmark for quality in 2011 based on IHA statewide Pay for Performance (P4P) program measures.

The top performers were recognized based on three areas of P4P quality measurement: meaningful use of health IT, patient experience and clinical measures that include priority conditions such as cardiovascular, diabetes, musculoskeletal, respiratory and prevention.

"We are extremely proud that two of our physician groups were recognized as being among the top medical groups in the state," said Kevin Manemann, Regional Chief Operating Officer for St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare. "This achievement speaks to the excellent quality of care our patients receive every day by our talented physicians and support staff."

St. Joseph Heritage Medical Group was one of four physician groups to be recognized not only as a top performer, but also with the "Ronald P. Bangasser, MD, Memorial Award for Quality Improvement" for having the most improved composite scores over the past year.

Other IHA programs include: value-based purchasing of medical devices, bundled episode of care payments, the measurement and reward of healthcare efficiency, healthcare affordability, administrative simplification, and accountable care organizations.
