Our Position on Advocacy Issues

As a faith based organization, St. Joseph Health continues to advocate to ensure the most vulnerable and disadvantaged will have access to basic quality of life issues including food, shelter and adequate health care. This is part of our core values and guides us as a health care delivery organization.

Given the current status and the vast complexity of the efforts, we have not yet taken a formal position on any of the specific healthcare reform bills. However, there are some key components of the current proposals that we consider crucial and can impact the way in which we provide services to the people in the communities we serve. These issues involve our quality of care, our delivery of care and our Catholic social principles. Therefore, we feel it necessary to issue a position regarding these areas to ensure our voice is clear as to where we stand.
