At St. Joseph Health System, we recognize that a "healthy community" requires far more than just the availability of good medical care, although that is certainly important. Creating healthy communities requires that we seek out our neighbors and partner with them to address the needs of the community -- whatever they may be.

These partnerships are critical. By working together -- not just with other health care providers, but with schools, businesses and local community groups -- we can accomplish more, and have a more profound and lasting impact in our communities, than we ever could working alone.

Examples of St. Joseph Health System Healthy Communities initiatives include support for local community centers, child care centers, programs for at-risk children and adults, graffiti and gang prevention programs, subsidizing low-income housing projects , transportation programs, shelters for the homeless, neighborhood organizing, and economic redevelopment
