Kevin Klockenga, Executive Vice President, Northern California Region (effective
July 1, 2011), has been associated with the Corporation since September
2008 and currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer
of the Sonoma County hospitals since February 2009. Mr. Klockenga is the
top executive overseeing the largest private, non-profit employer in Sonoma County.
Mr. Klockenga came to St. Joseph Health after serving three years as chief
operating officer for the Catholic Healthcare West system at its two Mercy
hospitals in Bakersfield, California. He also served two and a half years
as assistant vice president of operations at Memorial Hermann Hospital
in Houston, two and a half years as vice president of operations at the
University of Chicago’s Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago,
and a total of six years in administrative roles at Johns Hopkins University
School of Medicine in Baltimore.
Mr. Klockenga also served a combined seven years in administrative roles
at The Methodist Hospital System in Houston, Barnes Hospital in St. Louis
and Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Illinois. He earned
his bachelor’s degree at Illinois Wesleyan University and his master’s
degree at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He is
a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
