I was not satisfied when I left this appt and felt dismissed for my concerns. My weight gain was blamed for the cause of my thyroid going down,(TSH up) rather than the other way around. If my thyroid drops I gain weight. We have been chasing my TSH for several years. My GI concerns were dismissed although thyroid is absorbed in the GI tract. I would like to be treated as a whole person again like before Dr. *NAME* retired, not just a thyroid gland. I asked about treatment for Hashimoto's and was told there is none except thyroid medication. Something is not right that my thyroid is fluctuating up and down so much. I feel all we do is chase the numbers with labs and make excuses; such as my weight gain caused my thyroid to go down. That was insulting since my weight gain was in the last three weeks. Not months. And I could feel that my thyroid was dropping because I was loosing endurance, energy and enthusiasm over the last month and half. Everyone knows when your metabolism slows you can gain weight. The thyroid drops before the weight gain. So now my thyroid med has been increased again and we will chase the TSH for 3-6 months again. What about me, the whole person.
