    Dr. Edwin A. Contreras has served as the director of neonatology at Covenant

    since 1989 and has practiced neonatology in Lubbock for more than 30 years.

    From 1979 - 1989 he was director of neonatology at TTUHSC, Department of

    Pediatrics. His focus on neonatal-perinatal medicine and care of premature

    and/or sick infants reflects his passion and personal dedication to an

    environment of life-long learning and the best care for his patients.

    Voted one of the “Best Doctors in America” for multiple years, Dr. Contreras

    is an Associate Clinical Professor at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center

    Department of Pediatrics and has earned its Outstanding Faculty Award in the

    Department of Pediatrics as well as an Exemplary Service Award by the Texas

    Perinatal Association.

    Dr. Contreras completed his residency in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins

    University in Baltimore and a fellowship in neonatology at the University of

    Pittsburgh. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the

    sub-board of Neonatal Perinatal Medicine and has his medical license for the

    state of Texas. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a

    member of the Texas Medical Association and American Academy of Pediatrics
