Dr. Feng was awarded Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Phi Beta Kappa,
with degrees in biologic sciences and music from the University of California,
Irvine, in 1992.
After his undergraduate work, Dr. Feng went on to the Ohio State University
where he obtained his medical degree (M.D.) in 1996. He then completed
his internal medicine residency from 1996-99 at the UC Irvine Medical Center.
Dr. Feng spent the next three years at the UCLA subspecialty fellowship
program, where his emphasis was in advanced and therapeutic endoscopic
procedures. He has co-authored a number of journal publications and abstracts.
His research work studied the use of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) guided
fine needle aspiration in cancer detection and staging. Dr. Feng’s
clinical interests include colon cancer screening, gastroesophageal reflux
disorder (GERD), gastrointestinal bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease,
evaluation of abdominal pain, and biliary/pancreatic diseases. He believes
in personal and quality care and values patient and family input when
faced with challenging clinical decisions.
In 2002, Dr. Feng received his board certification in gastroenterology
and hepatology and joined Mission Internal Medical Group. Besides working
with patients in the office setting, he also performs a variety of services
including consultations and gastrointestinal procedures at Mission Hospital.
Administratively, he has served on the Cancer Committee as well as the
Medical Executive Committee at the medical center. In 2009, Dr. Feng served
as the Chief of Gastroenterology/Endoscopy section at Mission Hospital.
In 2007 and 2008, Dr. Feng was honored for placement in the "Guide
to America's top physicians."
Outside of medicine, Dr. Feng invests much of his pastime playing and making
music. He has sung and recorded in a number of Christian/gospel CD albums.
He shares his passion for music with his wife, who is a classically trained
pianist and instructor. Dr. Feng serves on the worship ministry at the
Harvest Community Church of Irvine. Having emigrated from Taiwan at the
age of 10, he is also fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
