Growing up with a family passionate about health and wellness along with a strong desire to serve others, Dr. Giesemann always had a natural inclination to pursue a career in medicine. Serving as a physician for over 10 years in California and returning after five years helping care for the U.S. Embassy community in Eastern Europe, she thoroughly enjoys her profession as it allows her the opportunity to provide superior care for patients, continue her lifelong love for education, and contribute to her community.
Dr. Giesemann’s approach to treating her patients focuses on empowerment through education as her goal is to teach her patients how to take an active role in the management of their health. This, coupled with Dr. Giesemann’s ongoing collaboration and communication makes it a winning combination to partner with her patients to achieve their health goals. According to Dr. Giesemann, “The care of others is not only about the physical, but encompasses caring for the whole being.”
An Orange County native, it was a simple decision for Dr. Giesemann to join Hoag Medical Group. As she states it best, “I joined Hoag for its dynamic, forward thinking approach to health care and for its authentic commitment to the individuals in the community.” A graduate of Albany Medical College, Dr. Giesemann completed her residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. She chose her specialty in family medicine due to the variety of patients, having treated patients ages 0 to 104, and the ability to serve her patients in all aspects of their health care.
Dr. Giesemann and her husband, also a physician, have 3 sons who they have shared the joy of traveling with to nearly 30 countries. She speaks Spanish and Taiwanese and during her free time, she enjoys her family, their dog, and the beach.
