He went on to the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay to obtain a master's degree in Biomedical Engineering. Upon completion, he was appointed as a Huck Institute of Life Science research fellow at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in molecular medicine for two years. He completed his general surgery residency at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York. Upon completion of his residency in 2010, he completed a two-year fellowship in Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgery at USC. Dr. Kulkarni is an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who is actively involved in the training of residents and medical students at the Keck School of Medicine. He is well liked by his patients because his philosophy of care includes spending time with patients and listening to their concerns. Dr. Kulkarni is board certified in General Surgery.
