  • Biography

Dr. Leer received his undergraduate degree in Zoology at UC Berkeley and attended Medical school at the University of Southern California. He then completed residency in Family Medicine at the San Pedro Hospital/Harbor UCLA medical Center. He is board certified in Family Medicine and Geriatrics.

Dr. Leer and his family moved to Humboldt County in 1992. He has been a member of Eureka Family Practice since 1994. In addition to his duties at EFP, Dr. Leer was a member of the North Coast AIDS Project Board of Directors through the 1990’s and briefly chaired the Board. He was also Chief of Staff at St. Joseph Hospital in 2004 and 2005. For the past 10 years he has been President and managing partner of Eureka Family Practice.

Dr. Leer’s wife, Nancy, teaches in the psychology department at Humboldt State University and in her spare time lovingly tends to her beautiful garden. Their daughter, Jane, grew up and left home much more quickly than her parents were prepared to accept!

When not working Dr. Leer can either be found bicycling, fly fishing, or eating.
