As a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP), I see children of all ages, from newborns to young adults. I provide a wide range of excellent health care, whether a child is well and just needs a check up or is ill and requires care. After graduating with a bachelors of science in nursing at the University of San Francisco, I completed my Nurse Practitioner education, earning a masters of science in nursing from California State University, Long Beach. Certified by the National Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Associates, I have worked as a CPNP since 1986. I thoroughly enjoy caring for children and also serving as a lactation educator and Basic Life Support CPR instructor.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons as well as camping, skiing and hiking.

Barbara Niklas is an amazing Nurse Practitioner and I have been taking my daughters to her since they were babies. She has the BEST bedside manner and she makes me feel comfortable as well as my daughters. She has always been able to connect with them and make them feel so comfortable that they really don't like going to anyone else. I honestly don't know what I'd do without her. She goes above and beyond her call of duty because she cares about her patients and their families and she explains things really well. She never makes you feel dumb, even when you feel like you ask a dumb question. I trust her wholeheartedly as a nurse practitioner and really listen to her advice about everything from nutrition for my kids, parenting questions, medications, etc. She is an extremely intelligent person but talks in layman's terms so that you understand. She has seen my kids before office hours or even after at times when sick and called me back immediately if there is ever an emergency. When my daughter had RSV at 6 months old she gave me her cell number in case I had any concerns and she is always good about answering. I try not to abuse that privilege but that says a lot about the kind of caring person Barb is! I love this woman and will miss her when my girls reach the age where they do not go to a pediatrician anymore! St. Jude is blessed with having such an amazing Nurse Practitioner like Barb Niklas!!!! She truly should get Nurse of the Year, if there even is such a thing.
she is not our normal doctor, but she was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. she also provided handouts that were helpful. we would definitely see her again.
Barbara Niklas is an excemplary health care provider who is both knowdlegeable and empathetic to her patients.
I was given a print out of recommended foods for my baby. I read over the material and some of the foods included vanilla ice cream. i was immediately alarmed and read the front cover and the paperwork was from 1984??? I was in shock and it made me question the judgement of everyone there. How could this material be passed out? It was so outdated. Please do not pass this out anymore.
NP was patient, a great listener and gave us good resources.
