A native Californian, Dr. Elwyn Rexinger grew up in South and North Dakota,
then returned to California for medical school at Loma Linda University
and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. After internship,
he served two years in the United States Army, including a tour year in
Viet Nam, receiving a Bronze Star for his service.
He is board certified in Family Practice by the American Academy of Family
Physicians.
He has practiced at Mission Hospital since 1973, serving on various committees
including Chief of Family Practice, as well as Monarch Healthcare’s
Quality Assurance Committee for many years. His son, Dr. Kenneth L. Rexinger,
has been his associate for the past 18 years.
He enjoys travel and photography in exotic places such as Kilimanjaro in
Africa and the Fiji Islands where he volunteers his time in a clinic.
He also plays the pan flute and French horn.
His daughter, Sheryl, is a respiratory therapist at Mission Hospital.
