    Dr. Rettinger attended the University of Rochester and then graduated with honors from St. Louis University School of Medicine. Internship and Internal Medicine residency were completed at UCI where he continued training and certification in Endocrinology and Diabetes. He is Clinical Professor of Medicine/Endocrinology at UCI School of Medicine (1977-2015) and California Northstate University School of Medicine. He has a special interest in teaching thyroid ultrasound and biopsy. He also holds a chairmanship and numerous committee appointments nationally with AACE (American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists) and served as President of the California section for two years.

    Dr. Rettinger lectures to physicians statewide and nationally on subjects such as diabetes management and thyroid disease, and he is a contributing editor to a national endocrine newsletter. He is the only endocrinologist in Orange County to win ‘Physician of Excellence’ nine times through 2019.
