Dr. Monica Relvas pr actices as a P ediatric Intensivist and joined the
staff of Covenant Children’s Hospital in November of 2009. She has
served as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and the Fellowship Director
of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University
in Richmond, VA. She has also pr acticed pediatric critical care medicine
at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ. Dr. Relvas’ primary
clinical interests are shock, trauma, ARDS, sepsis, cardiac intensive
care and ECMO all in the pediatric population.
Dr. Relvas has completed two fellowships: V ascular Surgery, at the University
of Sao Paulo, Brazil and Pediatric Critical Care at Schneider Children’s
Hospital, in New Hyde Park, NY. She has published research on the use
of dornase-alpha in pediatric ventilated patients with atelectasis; The
effect of Terbutaline drip on cardiac enzyme elevation in children with
status asthmaticus and Prone positioning and ARDS in the pediatric population.
Dr. Relvas completed medical school at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil.
She has received the Presidential Citation for Significant Contributions
to the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the House staff Teaching Award.
She is also a member of the American Academy of Critical Care Medicine.
Dr.Relvas is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Gener al
Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care. She is also certified by the American
Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists.
