Dr. Paresh Rajajoshiwala, known to patients as Dr. Raja, is a premier bariatric
surgeon practicing in Plainview, Texas.
Relocating from San Antonio, where Dr. Raja was established as a well-respected
surgical weight loss practitioner that is recognized by the American Society
of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery as Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence.
He has cared for hundreds of obesity surgery patients across the Texas
hill country and surrounding communities with a strong track record of
excellent outcomes with minimal complications.
Bariatric surgery constitutes the main focus of his practice. He has been
practicing general and advanced laparoscopic surgery since 2000, and laparoscopic
and open bariatric surgery since 2003. Dr. Rajajoshiwala is Board Certified
in General Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons
(FACS). He is an active member of the American Society of Metabolic and
Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal
and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). ASMBS is the largest society for surgical
treatment of obesity in the world. SAGES represents a worldwide community
of surgeons that can bring minimal access surgery, endoscopy and emerging
techniques to patients in every country. Dr. Raja is also certified to
perform Lapband and Realize band procedures.
Dr. Raja performs all weight loss procedures laparoscopically with a typical
hospital stay of one night. Dr. Raja performs the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass,
Sleeve Gastrectomy and the Adjustable Gastric Banding procedures. He also
performs revision bariatric surgery and was the first to offer the new
non-surgical procedure called the StomaphyX™ in Texas. The StomaphyX™
procedure is designed to address inadequate weight loss or weight gain
in former gastric bypass surgery patients without any incisions or associated pain.
